Experienced Financial Modeler Needed for Pre-Revenue Startup Capital Raise

Project Overview:
We are an innovative pre-revenue startup poised to disrupt the Cloud Computing
sector. Our mission is to Democratize the Cloud. As we prepare for a significant capital raise,
we seek an expert financial modeler with a strong background in venture capital financial
modeling to create a comprehensive and dynamic financial model. This model will be presented
to potential investors and must reflect attractive yet realistic assumptions from an investors
perspective.
Scope of Work:
 Financial Model Development:
o Build a detailed, dynamic financial model incorporating income statements,
balance sheets, cash flow statements, and key financial metrics.
o Include projections for the next 5 years, with monthly breakdowns for the first 2
years and quarterly thereafter.
o Integrate scenario and sensitivity analyses to model various business cases.
o Incorporate advanced valuation methods such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF),
Comparable Company Analysis, and Precedent Transactions.
o Ensure the model is user-friendly, easily navigable, and allows for adjustable
inputs to run multiple scenarios.

 Assumption Formulation:
o Collaborate closely with our team to understand our business plan, market
positioning, and growth strategies.
o Research and incorporate industry benchmarks, KPIs, and market data relevant
to the Cloud Computing sector.
o Develop attractive yet credible assumptions that align with investor expectations
and reflect current market trends.
o Document the rationale behind each major assumption, including data sources
and methodologies.

 Data Visualization and Presentation:
o Create compelling charts, graphs, and dashboards within the model for
enhanced data visualization.
o Assist in preparing visual materials and slides for investor presentations.

o Ensure the model is presentation-ready, with clear annotations and logical
structuring.

 Investor Presentation Support:
o Prepare an executive summary highlighting key financial insights, investment
propositions, and valuation highlights.
o Be available to answer potential questions from investors regarding the financial
model, if needed.

Deliverables:
1. Comprehensive Financial Model in Microsoft Excel with all formulas, linked
statements, and adjustable scenarios.
2. Executive Summary outlining key assumptions, financial projections, valuation
methodologies, and investment highlights.
3. Assumption Documentation detailing the rationale and data sources for each major
assumption.
4. Data Visualization Materials including charts, graphs, and dashboards embedded
within the model and as separate files if necessary.
5. User Guide and Model Walkthrough:
o Provide a comprehensive user guide/documentation for the financial model.
o Conduct a walkthrough session with our team to explain the model's structure
and functionalities.

Qualifications:
 Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years in financial modeling, specifically for startups and pre-
revenue companies.
o Proven track record of creating financial models used in successful capital raises.
o Experience in the Cloud Computing sector is highly preferred.
 Skills:
o Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and macros.
o Strong understanding of venture capital investment criteria, startup financing, and
valuation techniques.
o Excellent analytical, research, and data interpretation skills.
o Proficiency in creating data visualizations and investor presentation materials.

 Knowledge:
o Familiarity with industry-specific KPIs, benchmarks, and regulatory environments.
o Up-to-date with current market trends and investor expectations in the startup
ecosystem.
 Communication:
o Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
o Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly and effectively.
o Willingness to engage in iterative discussions to refine the model.

Requirements:
 Portfolio Submission:
o Examples of previous financial models created for startups, preferably pre-
revenue (confidential information can be redacted).
o Detailed case studies or descriptions of similar projects you've completed.
o Testimonials or references from past clients, including at least two professional
references.
 Software Proficiency:
o Model must be developed in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modeling
tools and add-ins is a plus.
o Ability to use advanced Excel functions, macros, and possibly add-ins like
@RISK.

 Collaboration and Availability:
o Must be available for regular meetings and updates during our business hours in
the United States.
o Willingness to work closely with our team across different departments, including
non-finance professionals.
o Open to iterative feedback and revisions throughout the project.
 Timeline and Commitment:
o Availability to start immediately.
o Project completion required within 2-3 weeks after starting.
o Flexibility to accommodate any critical deadlines and milestones.

Legal and Confidentiality:
o Must be prepared to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before
commencing work.
o All deliverables will become the exclusive property of SLYD.
o Compliance with any additional confidentiality agreements, including non-
compete clauses if necessary.
o Awareness and compliance with legal requirements related to financial
projections and documentation.
