The role
This role provides a unique opportunity to work across different parts of Canary’s business. You will interact with grant applicants and work cross-functionally with the entire Canary team to ensure that all grant applicant needs are being met. The Grant Manager will play a pivotal role on this early-stage start-up team, with significant opportunity for growth and advancement as we grow.
Grant management & customer service: 90% of the role
(1) Evaluate grant applications while providing timely, appropriate, and high-quality support through email and by phone to help applicants who have requested a grant
(2) Ensure documentation is complete to comply with program requirements.
(3) Learn the in’s and out’s of our emergency relief fund platform to provide high-quality support to applicants requesting grants.
(4) Communicate with the team on Slack. [You must have experience using Slack for this role.]
Quality assurance and other projects: 10% of the role
(1) Help track patterns and learnings from your communication with applicants and grant management so that we can improve our service.
(2) Report issues by creating tickets on Linear
(3) [As needed] Testing new website features prior to launch to ensure they are working as expected and assisting with qualitative user research (example: note-taking during interviews with end-users).
Role structure
(1) Pay range is $8 – $12 per hour
(2) This is currently a part-time, 2-week contract role that does not include benefits such as health insurance, but will have the possibility of being extended beyond 2 weeks.
(3) Time commitment: 25 – 30 hours/week – with the potential to expand during times of peak demand and/or expand into a full-time role as Canary grows.
(4) While scheduling of hours is somewhat flexible, the role does require reliable hours 5 days per week, including Saturday (though weekend time commitment will be less than weekday).
(5) Eastern time zone is preferred for this position but is not a requirement.
