Travel Writer – Solo travel in Africa

We are looking for a well-traveled writer with a unique voice to pitch and write a piece about a destination in Africa (of your choice). Our magazine focuses on solo travel—although this is a destination piece, we would also like solo travel to inform the narrative. We want out-of-the-ordinary stories. Is there a little-known town that you know of that’s a real gem? Did you once find yourself in an unusual situation somewhere in Africa? What kind of adventures can you have in this place? And, what is it like for a solo traveler?

Our magazine is a new travel magazine, distributed in print and online every three months. Our audience wants quirky, interesting stories—not run-of-the-mill travel articles. Please have a firm idea about the angle of your story when you pitch.

The article should be approximately 1,200–1,500 words, accompanied by any high-res images that the author has available (if possible—if not, we will source images at our end), and the deadline is November 22nd.

Please note: If you have not been to Africa or the locality that you have chosen, please do not pitch for this job.
