We are looking for an experienced Shopify developer to help us implement a custom product swatch functionality on our Shopify store. The goal is to have color swatches on our product pages that dynamically display the corresponding variant images. This functionality is crucial for improving our user experience and ensuring our customers can see the exact variant they are choosing.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with Shopify’s Liquid templating language, JavaScript, and CSS to customize product templates, as well as a deep understanding of Shopify’s variant system and best practices for responsive UI/UX design.
Key Responsibilities:
Customize the existing product template to display swatches for product variants (e.g., colors).
Ensure that selecting a swatch dynamically updates the main product image to reflect the selected variant.
Troubleshoot any issues with variant availability and image rendering.
Optimize the swatch implementation for desktop and mobile to create a seamless user experience.
Collaborate to ensure the implementation aligns with our brand’s aesthetic and functionality requirements.
Requirements:
Strong experience with Shopify Liquid, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Proven track record of Shopify theme customization, particularly involving product variant features.
Ability to integrate JavaScript to create dynamic image-switching behavior based on user interactions.
Familiarity with Shopify apps and additional tools that may assist in achieving the desired swatch functionality.
Ability to work efficiently and meet project deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Shopify themes like Debut, Dawn, or Umino.
Knowledge of best practices for responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
Previous examples of similar work are highly desired.
