My family is a part of a skateboarding community in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. Yesterday, a well established skateboarder and longstanding member of our community passed away. He was 51 years old and worked as a software engineer for Mattel and Disney.
Something he always talked about was creating a simulation model in 3D, of the skatepark we frequented, and dropping 10,000,000 marbles into any drop-in section (the coping where skateboarders drop into the transition pool/bowl from) and see what happens. He was interested in seeing where technlology could benefit and drive innovation in the building of skateparks in the future.
For now, my goal is only to create this vision and give it to the community in a video or simple web front end that users can pick the drop in spot to drop the marbles from, and see where they go.
If hired, I will provide you with a map of the skatepark and any videos and pictures you would need to re-create the structure and surfaces.
This would mean a lot, and I appreciate anyone who submits an application to help us out. Thank you.
