Retro Pixel Artist for Indie Adventure Game

“Out of Body” is a story and game about a man who loses his physical body and then realizes that no one has bothered to come looking for him ( https://www.outofbody.life/ ).

The story is being lovingly produced by a brother (writer) and sister (art director). We are looking for a young, capable artist to help us produce many of the characters, game assets, and art backgrounds that will be in the game.

The art will emulate computer games from the early 1990s (Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Monkey Island 2, and Gemini Rue are our main examples). You should be familiar with these games and the art styles used. We have documents that describe the story, moodboards, plus a working demo with rough “programmer art” (placeholders) for the first act of the game! ( https://eidosk.itch.io/out-of-body-demo / psw: oob123)

Our immediate goal is to make our demo beautiful with pixel/painted characters, animations, and assets. From there, we’ll complete the Act I of the game, which will be used attract crowdfunding to complete more sections of the game (the game will be released to pc/mac/switch).

You will be involved in bringing each rough background to life, adding detail and flourishes, plus designing and animating character sprites. If you are contacted to interview, we’ll most likely ask you to design a spec character similar to Indiana Jones Fate of Atlantis. We’ll also look at your previous work in scene illustration and pixel art.

Thank you for considering working on this project with us! We look forward to reading your application!

Jonathan, Abigail, and Marco (mostly volunteers working during nights and weekends)
