We have a client project requiring Apple Automator or Applescript.
1. Create an automation that looks in a folder and:
a. uploads the image and video files included in the folder into Apple Photos; then
b. moves the photos to an external hard drive that keeps a simple backup
2. Acknowledging the limits of Apple automation, determine how we will do the following:
For Apple Mail, create an automatic extractor into a folder of attachments that will be manually processed by the user.
– processing for all messages for people who have been added to a group in the Contacts
– don’t process anyone not in that group in the Contacts
– we will provide you some text search or from/to sender rules so you can create different folders to drop the attachments into (similar to the other one we did together)
3. If the capabilities permit, automate adding contacts to groups based on an Any Field search. I tried to do this myself In Automator but I couldn’t figure out how to add people to a group.
4. Create a script that is designed to archive older files within a specific collection of directories automatically once they’re a year old into a zArchive folder within that folder. We need to determine how to specify the folders in a way the client wants to.
You will need to have an Apple OS device to do your own testing but we can periodically Zoom into the client device and push code, test, etc.
