Build an excel-based carbon calculator (mobile phone industry)

——————————
Background on Asurion
——————————
Asurion is a global leader in technology protection and support services, offering device protection, repair, refurbishment, replacement, and recycling for smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other personal technology. Our focus is on extending the life of devices to reduce e-waste and lower the carbon footprint associated with the manufacturing and disposal of new devices.

Project Overview: Excel-Based Carbon Credit Program Development
————————————————————————————
As part of our sustainability initiatives, Asurion plans to develop a carbon credit program that quantifies the environmental benefits of our repair, refurbishment, and recycling services.

Key Objectives:
———————
* Measure carbon savings associated with each repaired, refurbished, or recycled device vs emissions of manufacturing and disposing devices.
* Present this information to customers to raise awareness of their positive contribution to sustainability.
* Aggregate and report carbon savings to our carrier partners on a quarterly or annual basis.
* Minimize the need for continuous external support by building an Excel-based model that can be maintained in-house
* Occasional expert input for model reviews and ad hoc requests.

Request for Proposal:
—————————
We are seeking a specialist to help us build an Excel-based carbon credit model that is easy to update and maintain, requiring minimal ongoing support after the initial development phase.

Please include the following in your proposal:

1. Credentials and experience in developing carbon credit models, particularly for technology repair, refurbishment, and recycling (case studies where possible). Have you worked with recognized certification bodies such as Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) or Gold Standard?

2. Proposed approach: How would you design the Excel-based model? The model should be easy to use, allowing our team to input relevant data and automatically generate calculations.

3. Data Inputs: What data inputs would the model require from Asurion to calculate carbon savings accurately? E.g.
Device volumes, device types, any other factors (e.g., energy use in repair processes, typical carbon footprint of new device production).

4. Ease of updates: How would you structure the model to allow for minimal updates? For example, could we easily adjust inputs like device volumes or carbon savings factors without major reconfigurations?

5. Deliverables and timeline: What key deliverables would you provide, and how would they meet our goals for simplicity and minimal ongoing maintenance? Provide a suggested timeline for developing the model, conducting initial training for our team, and delivering the final tool.

6. Model review and ad hoc support: Would you be available for periodic model reviews (e.g., annually) to ensure the model remains accurate and up to date? How would you handle ad hoc requests / support?

7. Certification and Monetization: We are also interested in potentially certifying carbon credits through recognized bodies like VCS or Gold Standard. Do you have experience assisting companies in obtaining carbon credit certification? If so, what is your approach?

We are eager to proceed with this project and would appreciate your proposal.
