Contract: Benefits Analyst

This is an engagement through Upwork’s Hybrid Workforce Solutions (HWS) Team. Our Hybrid Workforce Solutions Team is a global group of professionals that support Upwork’s business. Our HWS team members are located all over the world.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Benefits Analyst to join our team. This role will provide critical support to the Sr. Manager of Benefits in the administration, communication, and coordination of our employee benefits programs. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a passion for helping others.

Work/Project Scope:

Assist in Benefits Administration:
Support the Sr. Manager of Benefits in the day-to-day administration of health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits programs.
Process employee benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations in a timely and accurate manner.

Employee Support:
Serve as the first point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing clear and accurate information.
Assist employees with benefits-related issues, including claims resolution, coverage questions, and eligibility.
Conduct benefits orientation sessions for new hires.
Communication and Education:
Help develop and distribute benefits communication materials, including plan documents, benefits guides, and educational resources.
Participate in the planning and execution of benefits open enrollment, including creating materials, scheduling sessions, and supporting the online enrollment process.

Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including COBRA, FMLA, ACA, ERISA, and HIPAA.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits records and employee files.
Assist with the preparation and submission of required reports and filings.
Support Projects and Initiatives:
Collaborate on special projects, such as wellness programs, benefits benchmarking, and vendor evaluations.

Must Haves (Required Skills):

1+ years of experience in benefits administration or human resources.
Fundamental understanding of employee benefits programs and related regulations.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems is a plus.
