Developer Needed for Interactive Map with Layers, Filters, and User Personalization

We’re developing an interactive map for an LGBTQ+ platform that prioritizes safety, visibility, and community worldwide. The map will include layers, filters, and a legend based on users’ identities (e.g., gender expression, race, or orientation) and will provide tailored, relevant recommendations for users to navigate the world safely.

Core Features Required (MVP):
Interactive Map

Use Mapbox or Google Maps API as the base map.
Display clickable pins for resources, businesses, and locations.
Layered Filters
Users will toggle between layers:

Culture: Perception based on gender norms, tattoos, physical presentation, etc.
Tourism: Hotels, restaurants, and LGBTQ+-friendly spaces.
Fun: Bars, clubs, and hotspots tailored to user demographics.
Legal: Resources like legal hubs, clinics, and LGBTQ+-specific laws in each location.
User Personalization

Users input demographics to create an avatar (e.g., “femme-presenting Asian woman” or “trans Black man”).
Map dynamically updates layers to reflect personalized recommendations.
General Map + Personalized View

A General View for all users with tailored, filter-based overlays activated by inputs.
Legend for Map Understanding

A clear, interactive legend that explains:
Badging System: Color-coded icons for safety and inclusivity ratings (e.g., Green = Safe, Yellow = Caution, Red = Unsafe).
Layer Markers: Pins or icons for culture, tourism, fun, and legal resources.
Ensures users can easily interpret the map and customize their experience.
Basic Badging System for Businesses

Placeholder visuals for businesses showing inclusivity ratings.
To evolve into a community-verified review system.
Scalable Backend Design

Structured to allow future expansions:
Event visibility.
Sponsorship opportunities.
Integration of nonprofits and verified advocates.

Deliverables:
A working interactive map MVP with:
Clickable pins for locations and resources.
Layered filters (culture, legal, tourism, fun).
Personalized views based on user inputs (avatar creation).
A clear, interactive legend explaining pins, layers, and badging colors.
Functional badging placeholders (color-coded visuals).
Clean, responsive UI design for the map page.
Documentation for further scalability (e.g., API structure, adding layers).
